Additionally, the country is in second place on the Global Innovation Index in the Latin America category, according to a study by Cornell University, INSEAD, and OMPY (2014).
In 2017, the University of Costa Rica (UCR) was in the 411-420 range of the QS World University Rankings, climbing 60 places as compared to the previous year. This educational institution was ranked as the 15th best university in Latin America.
